The RainBo Music Trust was founded by Safi Newmarch-Grant in 2015 in memory of her father Bowen Grant. Bowen, known to his friends as 'Bo', was a well known figure on the local music scene and his grass roots music venue, The Palladium, in Bideford, North Devon, has been, and continues to be, the launch pad for a number of bands. Bowen loved rainbows, one of his earlier companies being called Rainbow Freight, hence the name 'Rain' 'Bo' Music Trust.
Bowen was very actively involved with bringing music to the community in Bideford and beyond. He had a major role in the organisation of the original Bideford Music Day events, working equally with a dedicated group of passionate music enthusiasts who voluntarily gave their time and expertise to produce the event. There was no Bideford Music Day between 2005 and 2015, when the RainBo Music Trust was established and re-instated the event. The aim of the event is to bring the people of Bideford together for a fantastic, music-centered experience to be enjoyed by all. Previous Music Days raised money to buy musical equipment for local schools. The RainBo Music Trust will continue to raise funds following this concept and any profit from the music day will be used to buy musical equipment, instruments and tuition for local schools, groups and individuals. Fundraising is carried out to cover the costs of producing the Music Day event and to hold music workshops within this event.
The RainBo Music Trust became a Registered Charity on the 19th October 2017.
