To give everyone the opportunity to try learning to play an instrument.
To prevent instruments going to waste.
The Trust aims to bring musical experience and tuition to the local community. The instrument donation bank is a fantastic way of achieving these goals and realising the charities aims.

We are aiming to establish connections with local groups, schools, music teachers, and venues to enable us to rehome musical instrument donations. Please do get in touch if this is something you can help with.

This keyboard has today been delivered to Bideford Youth Centre, "Space", where this very generous and appreciated donation will enable the team to encourage and support their many budding musicians at the Centre in experiencing different instruments and musical genres.
It was great to catch up with Youth Worker Andy and hear about upcoming plans - we are hoping to provide some more instruments for the Youth Group in the near future."

Music can be life-changing. Learning an instrument helps build confidence, wellbeing, creativity and connection, and for many young people it offers a powerful outlet and a sense of belonging.
This is exactly why RainBo Music Trust’s Instrument Donation Bank exists. By rehoming donated instruments, we can make sure they don’t sit unused – instead they become opportunities for young people to discover the joy and benefits of making music.
🎶 Do you have an instrument you no longer use?
We warmly welcome donations of guitars and other instruments so we can continue placing them where they’re needed most.
Together, we can keep music moving and put instruments into the hands of the next generation. 💛

We’re excited to share that a donated drum kit has just been rehomed to a young person who’s learning the drums — giving them the chance to practise at home and keep building their confidence and skills.
A big thank you to Andy from Bideford Space Youth Club for collecting the kit and helping make this happen, and to the generous donors who make opportunities like this possible. Rehoming instruments isn’t just about equipment — it’s about supporting creativity, wellbeing, and personal growth. Music gives young people a powerful outlet, builds resilience, and helps them find their voice.

Public pianos in markets and community spaces have proved to be real success stories elsewhere. They encourage spontaneous music-making, bring people together, create moments of connection, and help make shared spaces more welcoming and vibrant for everyone. From experienced musicians to first-time players, they offer something that can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.
We sourced a piano that needed rehoming and, with the fantastic support of the removal team at Dave the Man with the Vans, successfully transported it to Torrington. A huge thank you to the donor - the piano will bring joy to many people! The piano is now on site and awaiting installation in the market, then it can be tuned and secured ready for use.
Please keep an eye on the Great Torrington Pannier Market and Arcade pages for updates on when it will be ready for public use.
A huge thank you to Dave the Man with the Vans for their help and for generously donating back to the charity from the removal fee. Your support is very much appreciated.

The instrument was very kindly donated by a wonderful couple from Ilfracombe. Once it came into our care, we passed it on to Becki at Root Notes, ensuring it could be used widely in group workshops and shared by many different people.
Autoharps are particularly valuable in inclusive and community music settings. Their chord-button system makes them accessible to beginners and those with limited musical experience, while still offering enough depth for more confident players to explore rhythm, melody, and accompaniment. They can be played seated, require relatively little physical strength, and allow participants to make a rich, harmonious sound straight away—making them ideal for mixed-ability groups and intergenerational sessions.
Seeing this instrument actively supporting creativity, confidence, and shared music-making is exactly what our Instrument Donation Bank is all about. It is a powerful reminder of how donated instruments can continue to have a life, purpose, and positive impact well beyond their original home.

At RainBo Music Trust, we believe every person should have the opportunity to make music, regardless of circumstance. Donated instruments like these make such a positive impact, helping young musicians build confidence, creativity, and community through music.
A huge thank you to our generous donors who make this possible! 🌈
Together, we’re keeping the music alive. 🎵
